Data releases

Every published snapshot of the tax data, newest first, and what changed in it.

A release is a database dump of every state's rates, address ranges and outlines, built from the states' own files and checked against their own answers before it's published. The API serves one release at a time. Each download comes with its SHA-256.

  • Taxability rules for the API's new code= parameter: whether groceries, prepared food, catering, SaaS, custom software, professional services, construction, delivery and general goods are taxed, in Washington, New York, California and every Canadian province and territory.
  • 136 dated rules, each citing the agency pages it was read from; a place, code and date without one answers not_researched rather than the general rate.
  • Scored against 674 sales from the agencies' own worked examples in every state, DC and province: 93 right, 0 wrong, 111 declined because the answer turns on facts the code doesn't carry, 470 in places not yet researched.
  • No rate changed from data-2026-10-22-history.

  • Minnesota's and Washington's tax areas are loaded for every quarter they published since 2020.
  • California's 558 CDTFA tax areas are indexed as verified areas.
  • Nebraska's boundary file NEB2026Q4OCT20. No rate in force today changed.
